Glitch City Laboratories

This is a lo-fi version of Glitch City Laboratories, meant for backup purposes. Everyone is encouraged to download a backup of the site every time one is made available, to prevent loss of all the research and data contained within GCL, should the website crash or something, which would really suck. The Glitch City Labs Team gives authorization for anyone to host this backup on their own website.

Description
????? is a Glitch Pokemon that exists in Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal. The only way for sure to get it is with GameShark (Code 01FFEDD0).

The backsprite of ????? during battle a monocolored (golden or silver, depending on the version) variation of the last sprite in that position. If it was sent out at the start, it will be a gold/silver variation of your backsprite.

Upon capture, a glitched Pokedex screen will be shown (See above). The player is then transported to a glitched area, similar to Glitch City. See G/S/C Glitch City for information on this area. Trainer sprites from the area you were at before will be preserved, although talking to these trainers will likely result in a glitch or error. To get out from this Glitch Area, use Fly.

Like its Generation I counterpart Charizard 'M, ????? can "hide" Pokémon under it. While they are still visible to the player, the game interprets the ????? as the end-of-list marker (which is FF), and some game functions refuse to act upon Pokémon below it - for example, the Pokémon Center will only heal the Pokémon above ?????, ignoring it and the Pokémon below it. Reportedly the Pokémon Center Time Capsule (the device that facilitates trade between R/B/Y and G/S/C) will stop at ????? when checking for Generation II-exclusive Pokémon and moves, presenting a possible window of opportunity for obtaining never-before-collectible Gen I Glitches - this will be investigated by Glitch City Laboratories staff and reported upon shortly.
